Interior design/show homes
Discussion
We have completed half a dozen or so showhomes in the last 5 or 6 years.
We did a couple for smaller boutique type developers who wanted to spend the money. The big-name housebuilders employ people within the company more often than not to do showhomes or have a freelancer who will do it for buttons.
There is hardly any money to be made doing showhomes unless its mega high end stuff, or you bank on getting work off the back of doing the showhome from buyers within the development.
I know of a fairly large number of designers who shut their doors when the housing market crashed and builders stopped building.

Not sure who you mean by they (designer or builder?) but I have done it both ways in the past - builders decs hung paper we supplied, or we supplied and hung the paper. We are distributors for 90% of the big name paper and fabric brands so if you are after any papers or other advice fire me an email. Sometimes we are given the keys to a property and give it back finished down to the cutlery and bed linen, other times it's much more client involved.
Sorry, I meant the designer. I just want a pro to come up with paper designs & wall colours and then either point me to a good decorator or if in their service they do it! Any idea what sort of costs designers charge? Am i likely to get a decent price if they are doing an entire house?
