If you pay expenses for fuel etc ...say £30....Im sure there is a PHer nearby that will be able to help

I thought you were meant to keep it upright due to the gases/liquid...and then leave unplugged for 24hrs to let it resettle.

Don't lay it on it's back, even if padded you could still damage it.

Move it on it's side or front, old mattress or duvet underneath should stop any dents occuring.

ETA leave it upright for a few hours before switching it on.

And yes, you are 'supposed' to leave them to settle for a few hours.

But I call bks on that, leave it 5 mins then plug it in.

Never had a problem with that approach.

Same here. Never bothered letting them settle, never had a problem.

It's only to let the oil seep back down to the compressor, so leaving it upright for 5 or 10 minutes will normally do this (i.e. the time it would take you to get it in place).
