i have just bought 2 led floodlights, same output at 150w tungsten, one for the rear and one for the front. The light pattern is spread quite wide and cast's a nice white light over the area's.

I also bought a dusk till dawn sensor so they will be on all the time when its dark, they only use 3w each so power usage is no problem.

It would be an advantage to have the one on permentely to the rear as its very dark and would make trips to the bin or shed better, but do you think having the one on the front on all the time would draw unwanted attention? its not mega bright and i dont have it pointing at anyone elses windows, it just covers the cars and driveway,

Would the one on the front be better on a pir? or would/do you have yours on permentely?

cheers

i guess you should consider how your house relates to neighbours, ask yourself if they had a light on all the time, would it be seen through your windows, would it annoy you.

no, the neighbours will be fine, its not like having a second sun attached to the housesmile

Its an unusual type of light, it bathes everything in a white light, i would compare it to mood lighting, rather than floodlighting.

WTF do you want lights on all night for?
When it's dark, normal peope draw their curtains and won't be looking out anyway.
All you are doing is creating unnecessary light pollution and consuming the planets resources for no benefit whatsoever. Get some PIRs then the lights will only come on when you need them.

If I was a burglar I would be far more perturbed by a light suddenly snapping on than a constant light, which would enable me to plan my attack from another direction.

Well as you asked, no I don't. I can't think of any reason why that's a good idea.

why not, there only led lights, not great big fk off floodlights so you can see the house from space, i know ill not be using them all the time, there's no negative to having them on all the time is there?, i bet the streetlights dont go out in your area at 3am?

consuming the planets resources for no benefit whatsoever? Dont think so, electricity is always coming out of the plug socket 24-7, its not like they have to burn more gas just to keep my led lights on.

good point , thats what i was after, thankyou.
i was wondering about this too, thankfuly i live in a nice area and crime is not a problem, i was after a nice looking welcoming property rather than from security point of view, i thought a few led lights down the path would look nice.

i am after a look like this
