Hello,

I'm after some soffit lighting, specifically LED adjustable downlight type lights, something (that looks) like this, but white:

I want to use LED as they use next to no electricity. Also, are/do they need to be low voltage and run off a transformer? Am I right in thinking that they need to have a suitable IP rating (44?) AND have a fireproof hood? If this is the case, I cannot find downlighters that have BOTH these characteristics as well as being adjustable. They need to be adjustable as I want to angle them onto the walls of the house, in particular I want one to shine onto a plaque with the house number so that its visible at night. The lights don't need to be particularly bright, just enough to add a "highlight" and deter anyone lurking in the shadows. I plan to fit them in the soffits front and back. The house is a dormer bungalow, so the soffits are lower than on a "normal" house, hence they do not need to be massively bright like halogen security lights etc.

I would greatly appreciate any help!

Smiler.

LED down-lights can be either composite fittings which will require a driver/tx or LED lamps into 230V fittings.

The should be IP44 minimum.

Make sure you consider the beam angle to get the effect that you want.

They won't need a fire hood in the soffit.

I have used these and they work very well. The beam is a little narrower than traditional halogen but certainly not a spot

Good morning!

Why do you need fire-rating? Is a building inspector going to have to sign off on this? If not, don't worry about it. Anyway, I can do you a fire rated, adjustable LED downlight at IP54. It's a brand new product so not on the website yet but if you email me at guyatcadischdotcom I will send you the specs.

The LED 'bulbs' quoted above have less than 1/2 the lumen output of what they are supposed to replace.
