Cracks appearing in exterior sand and cement mortar render, the same allowing ingress of damp into the interior of the property.

Been seeking both advice and prices for re-rendering of the property, with most advice pointing away from sand & cement render, and towards either a lime based render, K-render and Monorex render.

Has anyone any experience of either using K-render or Monorex, or had a property rendered with these products.

No experience of those you mention, however.

We're in an old house, and after building a new side extension, noticed that the existing house had no foundations, at that point we underpinned the existing house, so that might have explained the cracks we had on the pebbledash.

We've now taken the pebbledash off, and some of the cracks look quite disturbing (we're talking an inch difference on the face of one side of the crack to the other!)

Long story short, if the house doesn't move too much anymore, shouldn't get many more cracks.

We've gone with a sand cement scratch coat, then a lime based top coat, just using hydrated lime, sand and cement and hope that it doesn't require too much maintenance, but if you've got a lot of movement, even the expensive mixes can't span massive gaps.
