Gas pipes and meters

The renovations of my house are still on going and at the min I'm turning my attention to the electrics and gas.
Iv spent the last few days removing a maze of old lead cables and gas lighting pipes some of which were still connected and just crimped over at the ends !
However It seems that my house is the only one in the street that has not got a plastic gas feed from the ground up the wall to the meter. Insted I have a large lead pipe that comes up out of the ground under the floor in the front room. The meter is also 20 years old. Is this a problem or do I need to get transco in to replace the lot?
