I bought a new build house in December and I need some closeboarded fencing to match the existing. I have had a quote from the onsite fencing guy who didnt seem to interested, took a week to come see it and priced 5m of fencing at £190.

I know I can get a price for the fencing from B&Q etc., but how much should be charged for the labour? And if anyone knows a fencer in the Warrington area who is reliable and preferably cheap, let me know!

£190 sounds pretty reasonable tbh, £100 is about the going rate for a days labour which leaves £90 for materials, fuel etc

£190 too much? ****, does everyone want things for free these days? Bite his arm off, I wouldn't get out of bed for that job.

I didnt say it wasnt reasonable, was just asking for some labour rates to see if it was or not.

Cheers for the replies

£100 for a days labour - where can I get some workers that will od that!

I would expect to pay £25-£40 per hour for a tradesman

I was quoted £80-100 per 'panel' for close board fencing. Depending on how many I had.

Sounds like a bargain. Closeboard is £30/panel, so 3 panels is £90 and then £100 labour. £100 is half a day if you're lucky, and you have to take into account getting to/from the job, collecting the fence panels, fitting them, unexpected problems/delays etc.
