Tall and narrow or low and long?
Whats best for keeping the stuff dry

Afer many years of stacking wood I can tell you its not really that important. Make sure its on a pallet so that air can get underneath and make sure its protected from rain / snow etc by a sheet or building. Other then that a stack that fits your sheet is fine.

From personal experiance I can also say that if you start out with a tall pile it'll settle and spread in its own into a low one in no time.
