can't find any graphite dust anywhere. could use 3 in 1 but it will make a mess.

Tiny little squirt of wd40 works well for me. Though i'm not sure if its the right thing to do and could be messy if your an animal with the spray can.

Furniture polish is your friend, it contains silicon, which is ideal for squeaks.

Towel under the hinge and spray a bit of WD40 on it. Did this over the weekend to the bedroom door actually.

+2.

Surrpised you have to ask frankly! Open and close the door to distribute it and have a tissue to catch any drips.

Next week; how to use a hammer wink

I have a tiny can of Singer Sewing Machine oil hidden away for just such things. It is all metal, British Racing Green, dates from the 1930s, and has a metal screw on lid like a tyre valve cap. I feel all cosy and smug every time I use it. No you can't borrow any.

Cheeky git! I have been told in the past to avoid it as it is difficult to get into the gap and makes a mess. Always been told that, like with locks, graphite dust was better but never been able to find any.

What's the saying, there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers? wink
