Driveway Edging
Discussion
I am doing a gravel driveway at home and need to get some edging and want to find something cheap but goodlooking, Some of the pathways around the property has black very flexible ( almost like rubber )plastic borders which would be ideal, its a single piece on a long run so suspect it comes on long length rolls with the top in a U shape so it makes a very tidy edge.
I need to edge almost 500 meters that also goes around a turning circle so want to avoid laying single pieces of concrete as it will take an age.
Any ideas / suggestions please

I would have a word with some local landscape gardeners, they will have trade accounts so you could either get some off them and give them something for their trouble or ask where they get their supplies from and go direct. Alternatively I would ring some local builders merchants, though you may need a trade account yourself, but even so it would be cheaper than paying those prices.
Found these, any good?

20ft = 6.1m x 82 nr @ £3.07 = £252 or,

82 nr @ £4.92 = £403
No idea on depths required but it's a start.

The cheapest, neatest and most durable way is to cast a concrete edge in situ.
Never. Presume a 150mm x 50mm edge (similar to a pin kerb) x 500m is 3.75 m3 of concrete @ approximately £80/m3 = £320 (that's without a race or found to sit it on), plus part load charges, plus VAT, plus the timber formwork (which itself would be £100's of pounds), plus excavation and backfilling, plus a damn sight more work and a decent finisher to bullnose it. That's why they make pin kerbs.or some flexible plastic roll you can hammer in?
It is, I am and I'm not wrong. You're welcome to show you're workings in order to show where you believe me to be wrong, as I have done in my two previous posts, in which the figures speak for themselves disproving your ascertation that concrete would be cheaper than the option I found. Neatness is subjective and durability is debatable.
I rest my case.
