Had all the carpets in my house and the sofas cleaned on Monday.

Didn't realise for 12 hours they'd put the cushions back on the sofa completely wet so the bit underneath wet.

Took the cushions off and dried them out and left heating on quite high for the last couple of days.

Cam downstairs this morning and lounge had an awful musty smell (but only the one room).......opened up every door/window in the house and even after 6 hours can still smell the mustiness (if that's a word).

Called the company who did the work who said to give it another 24 hours before calling them back again.

So anything else I should be doing - would a good dose of shake and vac and a hoover sort it out ? Think the smell is in combination the carpet and sofas......

Certainly won't be recommending the company to anyone!

We had similar after our carpets were cleaned, the smell did go eventually but took a good few weeks.

Also found that the carpets now get stained/dirtier a lot quicker than before as they removed the scotch guard thing applied to it in the cleaning process.

Now we need them cleaning again and we need to find something to apply to help them stay cleaner for longer - I told the wife a cream lounge carpet, black lab and 15month old were a bad choice, ho hum.

Cheers - did you do anything to aid the smell going or just use air circulation and heat to help ?

It will go after a week or so, just leave the windows open. Do you have pets?

A week frown

Just got back from an evening out and the whole house stinks - a week would not be good.

Can only open a couple of small windows as the rest are full panes frown

No pets, they just needed cleaning as it had been some time....
