Garden sheds - building them yourself?
Discussion
I've spent the last couple of days digging out and laying a base for a shed at the end of the garden. Not a massive space so looking at a 6 x 4 jobby and this one looks good on Ebay.

I've read to allow a day for getting your erection complete! A day, really?
Anyone built one of these up before and are they a total nightmare? Is it better just paying a bit more to get one deliverd and erected by someone that's done it before?

I've not built a metal one, but built a wooden with help before. Was all very easy if you can use a screwdriver, though as we were building it for my brother in law who didn't have an electric screwdriver it took us longer than it should have!
Start to finish was an afternoon, including the felting.

Assuming you're handy at DIY stuff and you have a flat smooth concrete base, then a day should be a doddle. The main problem with these cheap sheds is that the panels are actually very thin and flexible, they don't have any stiffness until they are assembled. A second pair of hands would be a great help. An electric screwdriver is very handy for whizzing the nuts and bolts up. Don't fully tighten them until you're happy that it's all square.
If that takes a full day to put up, then you are Reg Prescott AICMFP.

I've done a wooden one too (why does that sound rude?) and it took me an afternoon. A bit tricky to do on your own (which I did) as the two first sides are difficult to balance.Start to finish was an afternoon, including the felting.
I would be slightly worried about the condensation in a metal shed....
Off topic but I recall seeing one of these on a documentary about people who have trouble controlling their anger. The guy they were filming managed about half an hour before losing control, throwing tools across the garden and storming off but not before drilling extra holes all over the panels because the manufacturers had "made them all wrong"
I'm sure you won't have that problem.

A normally placid friend of mine had that problem when successive attempts to put a shelf up failed. In a burst of rage he swung at the lopsided shelf with a hammer - and knocked it clean off the wall and through a window as well

Might save a few of your hard-earned at Argos
I think the illustration is 'generic' though!
Neighbour has one of these steel sheds in his garden - didn't seem to have any problems erecting it and I'm sure it didn't take him a day.
I, in my wisdom bought a cheapish wooden shed - delivered February and spent most of the summer putting it together with bolts and screws rather than nails and a prayer.
Supposed to be able to be erected in four hours by two people but wouldn't have lasted the winter.
