Yes its a lot cheaper than block paving or the like.

You do need a specific tack coat, i cant remember what it is buts iirc its k160? you WILL need to check though, don't go using any old tar as it wont go off properly otherwise. Bituminous suppliers will or shopuld know the correct grade.

I have done a couple myself but recently was told that doing this is really and not done the 'right' way. I am lost for how its a corner cut for gravelling a drive as i don't see any other way to do it apart from resin bound or bonded which is significantly dearer and sort of defeats the object of a cheap dress up iykwim. It was mentioned on the paving expert website and when challenged he never replied which left me at least stumped.

For the record the 3 or so i have done have never come back and complained so i guess they are still okay. That said i never make promises for stuff i am not 100% sure on.

Thanks for that . What an absolutely cracking website - loads of useful information that is well indexed and easy to search.

would be interested in this too, wanted it done with my driveway, currently have tarmac and some grass. had a couple of people round, one said he could do i with a brick edge about 80m2 around £1600, seems a decent price. another company said he wouldnt do it but would prefer blockwork for £3600.

worried that it will go wrong...seen a house close by thats had i done and his driveway is on a incline and it looks really good.

cant find many companies that do it.
