Not having the time, skill or knowledge to do the work myself, I've had a quote to get a patio put down in my back garden. The quote is £3,087.50 for a 47.5m2 area. Therefore works out at £65 per m2.

Is this High, Low or average?

I'd be grateful for input. I know I should be getting several quotes but it's awkward getting time off work and waiting in all day for tradesmen etc, so would welcome some quick input on the above. The quote was for:

"Works would include clearing existing bark mulch, removal of top soil, groundworks to include 5 inches of type 1 MOT (crushed rock) blinded off with grit to level, fix in drainage where needed and install patio flags indian stone and grout to finish. This quotation is a guideline and can be reduced if the size of the patio is reduced"

I'm in North Wales if that has any bearing on rates.

Cambridgeshire about 10 years ago was around £60 per m2. The type of slabs can change the cost significantly. It seems very reasonable on the face of it.

This is a very pertinent question for me, as I have literally been searching for 'average patio costs'.
I've been quoted £92/m2 for our 29m2 patio..... slabs not included! redface

I'm in Cambridgeshire too and had a new patio and a pond filled in three years ago. Cost came out at £7K for an area of about 50m2 so £140m2 and I was very happy to pay it. Used Marshall Indian sandstone paving and materials were about £4K and three chaps for a week so not a bad deal IMHO. So your price seems stunningly good but depends a lot on quality of materials.

Depends on which stones you are laying as these can easily be 50% or more of the final costs if you go for nice stone.

I've just got a quote for 50m2 here in Herts which has come in approx £5k so yours sounds about right to me.

No problem at all - It's actually a very good friend of mine so I'm confident the quality will be good (and not just because he's a friend - he takes a lot of pride in his work).

I'll let you know when it's done and can show pics etc if you want.
