think thats the right word - the brass fitting bit that goes in the shower mixer thinghy - ie all i get is one temp at the mo so i presume its gone - can i just get the innards from somewhere? google has failed me

I guess it can be repaired but may be easier to just change the bar mixer. I recently fitted a Triton bar mixer, the whole thing was about £60 from B&Q. As long as the pipe centres are standard then just swap it out!

If you don't know the manufacture of the valve, it is normally easier to replace it for new. You can get very similar bar shower valves. What is the distance between pipe centres? Hopefully you can find one that matches and will require no changing of pipework/ replacing of tiles.

For example, a lot of Mira's tend to be ~150mm pipe centres. This can be +/- ~15mm to suit your needs.

Remove the thermostatic cartrige from the bar,drop it into a hot solution of viniger. Allow to cool,replace cartrige.
