Which portable barbecue?
Discussion
I'm looking to buy one to take advantage of the one sunny day that we due to get up in Scotland in the next 3 months. Does anyone have a good one that they would recommend? I want something that will not fall apart when travelling, gives a good heat and has a decent cooking area. I'm not keen on those throw away ones as they don't last very long, require a base and are a bit small.
These are not cheap but get awesome reviews.

Ready to cook on in 10min and can fold them up and stick it in your car straight after you finish cooking (due to handy snuff bag).

If I can piggyback on this topic, I am also looking for a barbecue having used disposable ones for the last couple of years...
is £50-80 enough to get a decent gas barbecue? Looking for something that can sit outside all year under a cover and not rust to bits after a season's use...
John Lewis have one that looks OK - thoughts?

I got one from Homebase about 6 years ago and its fine.
We've only used a bottle and a half of gas since we bought it.
Use it all the time, infact it was used yesterday.
Stays out side all year round. Has 2 wheels so you can easily push it anywhere in the garden to get out of the wind! A plate on one side and a hob on the other for making hot water.

Did a bit of research on this last year, and we ended up buying a Weber Go-Anywhere
Charcoal-powered so you'll need to factor in that to carry about, along with method of lighting (I favour using a Weber chimney) etc.
Been really brilliant to use, packs away nicely and so on.
Cost c.£40 delivered as far as I can recall

Brilliant things and easy to light. The only downside is they use briquets rather than lumpwood charcoal.Bill said:

Think I've just sold it to myself. Damn you OP

These http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/fold-flat-bbq/ are meant to be pretty good.I got one of these a few years ago and use it when camping and canoeing etc, packs up small is very light and can be used as a fire-box when the barbecue is done. http://www.glow.co.uk/briefcase-bbq.html
Anyone got this one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-1600.aspx? It looks like a good price if you do the double value clubcard voucher exchange. Don't think you can pick up in store though so that's not quite so handy.

My dad still has the one he bought in the Middle East in the early 80s and it's still going strong with no broken or replaced parts. And it didn't half take a hammering. Comes with a flame proof bag for putting it in the back of your 4x4 in the desert.

Had this one for 6 years: it's been great for the money, and gives loads of cooking area. Only negative is no means to alter the height of the grill, so you have to distribute / ration coals carefully. It's still going strong, but just bought a Son of Hibachi. Not used it yet: maybe tonight should be the night!

I use my gas BBQ lots too - probably had a dozen BBQ's this year so far, and generally get through 2 13KG bottles in a year. Use it all the time, infact it was used yesterday.
