So, my second attempt with this expensive door stop has fizzled out like my first.

The much vaunted 'chimney effect' ain't happening, and the Son of bks refuses to light. I've used 2 briquettes in the lighter tray, soaked in lighter fluid, and a layer of coals each side, following the instructions exactly.

Where am I going wrong? How do you light yours?

This gets one more chance before the piece of st ends up on Ebay... frown

Uh, I use rolled up newspapers and put firelighters inside them. Then put the charcoal over the paper.

Try firelighters rather than that gel/fluid crap.

Try soaking it with liquid oxygen and then light it, you save money that way too because you can light it with a spark then, from a fire steel.

This. 3 fire lighters in the tray gets mine going fine.
