Good Morning Gents.

Just a quick query. I have had the offer accepted, the mortgage is in place, the survey has been done and the searches are complete.

What do I have to wait for now, aside from everyone else? Am I done with all my bits or is there more?

Its my first house and it has a garage! smile

Thanks

What do you mean by 'mortgage in place'? Have they released the funds?

Exchange contracts/'complete'/collect keys? Dates agreed between parties/solicitors?

Looks like I am done then, just required to pay the solicitor the 10% when he says.

Thanks

There may be very little (in theory) for you to do, but whatever you do just don't stop hassling your solicitor every single day!

The simplest of house purchases can take an age when the solicitor has more 'important' things to deal with (i.e. lunch), just relentlessly phone for updates every day and they will make sure you are dealt with as soon as possible!

Genuine question but what do I hassle him for?

I have only spoke to him once to hand over some cash and then 2 weeks later all the searches were done and paperwork keeps flowing through. So I wouldn't even know what to chase for?

You hassle them to make sure the other people in the chain (or just the seller if no chain) have their side in order.

I have only brought two houses both with no chain and both took three times as long as they should and was a complete nightmare.

Just badger them for progress updates to make sure everything is progressing as it should. Try and get a completion date if you haven't already and give them a daily prod to hold them to it. From my experience they need little excuse to swing the lead when it comes to property sales, and it keeps the momentum going through the chain smile

I think it can depend on the Solicitor, mine was very efficient and seemed to want to get it completed as quick as I do.. Although unfortunately she did have a 2 week holiday in the middle of it! There was no chain though, so that helped.
