Hi all

I have a 1920s house with internal walls of ashcrete block type construction, and I am moving a doorway. The blocks are thinner (3 inches thick) than modern blocks so it would be a PITA to block up the hole with the same material as the rest of the wall.

Therefore I'm planning to put in a stud frame, plasterboard, and skim over. Questions:

Can I leave in the original door frame as it is beefy?

One edge is painted with gloss paint and it will be a ballache to get it off. Can I prime it with something to make plaster stick to it?

Any other tips?

Cheers all

I'm assuming you are talking about an internal doorway?

We recently blocked up an external doorway, well I say we, the builder did the work and he used those grey blocks and rendered the outside. He plasterboarded it inside.
