Can anybody shed some advice on this? My ponds quite deep with steep sides. I'm wondering if there are plants which will survive on the surface, perhaps drawing nutriants from the water. Are Lily's free floating? My tropical Amazon Swords seem to float until they've grown very long roots so is there something suitable for my pond? Thanks.

Lillies are not free floating, they are rooted at the bottom and grow up, i think there is a maximum they will grow up though, my friend has them in his 6ft deep koi pond with no dramas

Or you can look at something like this

HTH??

Hi,

Just a small point, if, like me you have koi in your pond, please be aware that the little buggers will eat / nibble any plants that float on the surface to the point when the lilys start looking like you've got catapillars in the pond!

Ah, I have 3 large koi and a couple of small ones plus a lot of goldfish. Are there any floating plants they don't like for breakfast?

Duck Weed.

It grows like wild fire in every fish pond I've seen it in, kind of like Cane Toads in Australia thou, so be careful wink

You've been warned.

Possibility for a food source or maybe bio diesel there.
