Anybody any ideas how I can deter them from coming into my garden. There is a vixen and 3 cubs who like playing there, however they have already chewed through my irrigation pipes, the rope on my sons climbing frame and they keep scensoreding everywhere.
I have 2 cats who don't seem to be bothered by them, but whatever deterrent I use must be cat friendly. A friend has offered to shoot them, however I don't think this will be practical in a built up area. biggrin

Any ideas?

We had a fox in our garden for a while, sent the dog crazy every time it came over the fence. Pissed me off too as the dog would be barking at the door all through the night. In the end, after having the rather unpleasant task of bathing my dog and cleaning fox st off it in the middle of the night I borrowed an air rifle.

I waited a few days until the OH was out, neighbours out, fox in the garden etc. then shot the fker. I have seen it once since. I'm not a hunter/killer, nor do I eat lentils and wear sandals, I just wanted to get rid of the fox before it spread disease in my garden and infected my dog.

He's a farmer, it's what they do.

I was hoping for a couple of practical suggestions, someone suggested coffee grounds, but they have had no effect.

I've got a big, fat aggressive cat and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. I hear and see foxes in my neighbours field, but none in my garden. I cant imagine why.

A couple of good working Terriers and a shovel...

Mole Valley Farmers (google search) do a good fox trap, but then you've got to decide what to do with it.

I'll email you an alternative as well

Have you tried pissing in your garden. I think I saw it on some "springwatch" type program.... I think.

Only way to be 100% is to shoot them!!

A good shooter will do them all in one sitting!!

Don't worry about it being built up as long as shooter can shoot down towards the ground you will be fine.

Trapping works well but you can only fit one in a trap at a time, so can take a while and you need a humane way to kill them, ie a slaughtermans gun.

Pissing in the garden works if used fresh but works even better if you can store the first pee of the day for 2 weeks in a bottle as it then really stinks!!

You can get fox spikes which you put on top of fence these work well but will stop cats from getting out also good at stopping yoof

You can get lion/tiger pee which you put in a few spots in the garden and the foxes won't come in... Not sure if you own moggy will be happy though. Human urine also (it appears) works....
