Bonfire Question
Discussion
I had a bonfire once. In February, I waited for one of those cold, misty days when nobody hangs out washing and all the windows are closed. Received a letter from the local council saying "You had a bonfire...." so I phoned them.
Me: "And?"
Cahncil: "We had a complaint"
Me: "And?"
Cahncil: "Well, ummm. We're obliged to pass it on"
Me: "Why? Which laws or rules have I transgressed?"
Cahncil: "Ummmm...."
Me: "Stop wasting my time and council tax and tell the old git at number 5 I'll be having another bonfire next Wednesday"
Idiots.

That was it for me too, had a bonfire mid week as had some leave, only garden bits, thought do it then as the cottage next to our will be at work so minimum fuss.
Popped a note through the letterbox the night before to the next nearest cottage (retired couple) to let them know was having a bonfire next day..
An yep this morning council letter falls through the door with a 'we have received a complaint about your bonfire'....
Unreal....

Anyone else think it's inconsiderate to have a barbeque using scrap wood instead of charcoal or briquettes? (yes I know charcoal is burnt wood, but it doesn't sink as much as fresh wood).
In the middle of a lovely summers day when everyone has their windows open and washing out, neighbours decide to have what is in effect a bonfire to cook their food on, and stink the whole street out.
