Just had the local rag dropped through the door and the headline story is "Why your pet cat is not really yours"

Apparently they are classed as semi-wild and in law you can't actually own a cat. This means that you/ the council have less responsibilities regarding dealing with them for example. If you squish a cat with your car nobody need know and nobody has to come clear it up. Where with a dog you have to report it.

I knew the thing about running one over but I was surprised about the legality on owning one.

Presumably there's no such thing as theft of cats then smile. I take anything printed in a local rag with a large pinch of salt.

If your dog causes an accident you are liable (third party ins helpful for this), if your cat causes one, you are not. Cats are classed as a free spirit.

Cat napping can end up in Crown Court, depending on who the owner is.

Yet I'm not allowed to shoot the one that keeps chasing my chickens.
