How much weeing is alot?
Discussion
Hi people,
I'm off work this week so i've had alot more time to spend with my fiancees labrador rather than just the usual once a day walk that only I take him on.
So i'm taking him out atleast 2 or 3 times a day an noticing he is urinating alot during these walks. This has been happening the past 3 days however yesterday morning he had the runs (sorry!) and was sick once. I tapered his water and food intake down yesterday and thankfully he's been ok anally and orally today
With the increase in urinating every time I take him for a walk, and increased amount of urine is there anything I should be worried about?

Personally, if Im ever unsure about my dogs health, I always take them to the vet.
I would far rather pay £30 odd to hear my vet say, alls fine dont worry OR good job you bought them down, we caught this in time.....
More topically though, Im not sure what the issue with your could be.
It is possible a new dog has appeared on the scene and he is scent marking more.

Lots of questions for this but DO NOT restrict his water intake.
Male dogs do often seem to urinate a lot (even neutered ones) to mark spots on walks, often after the first couple of times they don't actually produce a lot of urine even when they cock their legs!
So if you think it is not this this is what you should be asking.
Does his urine smell very strong?
Is he leaking urine?
Is he drinking more than usual?
Is he neutered?
How old is he?
What you could do is collect urine sample and take it to your vets to have some basic on site tests dones (not expensive) Fresh sample more reliable.
Re: the diarrhoea, if he is still otherwise well starve for 24hrs then introduce bland foods, if no improvement he should be seen by a vet.

Woah, thanks all for the quick replies.
- his wee did smell very strong when I took him out before tea.
- he isn't neutered and is nearly a year old, October 3rd
- he isn't leaking urine neither
However he is eating his food as normal now tho.
Note taken about the water intake, thanks.
A thing that has just occurred to me, my fiancees mum and dad have been away the past week and they pay him ALOT of attention at home. Could that have anything to do with his little issue?
I will take him the vets in the morning

He's quite young so thats good means its unlikely to be eg prostate problem that older entire males can get. Hopefully nothing to serious but if he is acting out of the norm a ck is a good idea, if you can get a sample to take with you your vets will appreciate it as it will help them to know if he has a bladder infection or not.
Not sure relatives being away should matter too much unless his diet has changed noticieably from what they normally give.

I agree with BexVN he is on the young side for prostate issues. How much would you say he is drinking in terms of volume per day? and how active is he? how heavy?
