GF's daughters cat would look better if its white bits were coloured pink, or luminous green. Or perhaps her white cat could be coloured brown with a pink arse like a baboon. This would make a nice surprise for her when she returns home from school. She doesn't listen to anything anyone says anyway, and the cat would probably enjoy the new look.

Are there any pet-friendly hair dyes for animals?
And is it both humane and legal to enhance your pet's appearance in this way, in England?

Thanks in advance smile

A friends white westie once received a quick spray with a water spray bottle thing filled with water and a touch of red food colouring.

Lovely shade of baby pink was the result.

It didn't seem bothered at all, although afterwards I was sure I could detect a slight "mince".

You could use food dye which hopefully would not harm the cat but probably would not be permanent . Or you can buy some spray on dye which is fairly safe.
As to whether it is legal ? Must be if you can dress dogs up

Food dye seems to be the best way forward.

If I had a white cat, I'd give it a go.

A friend dyed her dalmatian when she did the breast cancer run thing...

...the food dye got in to the dogs collar and the poor thing had a pink neck for ages.

Yes, I believe Jade Goody was used for some time as a test hippo for such things but the facility is no longer available.

The article speaks of the animal possibly having been dyed professionally, but doesnt say whether it was a professional human stylist, or animal stylist, not making it clear whether its legal or not to dye animals in the UK...

True but perhps you should take note of;

"We do not know what the dye is but it is fortunate that it is not toxic because cats have a passion for grooming themselves and would try to lick it off.

Otherwise you'll have a sad daughter

You could try Crazy Color (widely available) with an Elizabethan collar so the cat wouldn't be able to lick it off, however this would involve rinsing the cat, which would be cruel.

It bloody shouldn't be.
