Cat & dog drinking fountains.
Discussion
Need a bit advice.
We have a chocky lab, Bassett hound and a fussy cat they all get along and at the moment we are using a large bowl for the water(we think this helps them get along better and share) but the fussy cat is starting to have the odd sip and walk away or she is sitting next to the water meowing and when we change the water she drinks plenty.
We are thinking of getting one of these

Has anyone got any info on them or any other ideas.
Thanks chris.

I don't have the "Cat Mate" one you've linked to, but I do have the "Petmate Fresh Flow" for my two cats. I bought it because one of my cats became obsessed with drinking from the basin tap in the bathroom, to the point where he'd stand there and wail at me until I turned the tap on for him:

Simba waiting for tap
... so I thought I'd give the fresh flow one a go. Both cats took to it pretty quickly. I still have a bowl of water in a different room, but Simba ignores it and only drinks from the water fountain, while Misty uses both.
The fresh flow one is pretty much silent. I don't bother changing the charcoal filter very often - I use a water filter jug anyway in the house, so I just top it up from that, and I occasionally remove cat hair from the pump inlet (as they do inevitably shed a little into the fountain while drinking) and then once in a while give the whole fountain a clean and refill with fresh water.
The pump is still going pretty strong several years down the line - I have a feeling I'll need to replace it eventually, but have found they're available for a decent price on ebay.
Hope that helps!

I have a Border Collie and Springer and we use a Drinkwell Big Dog Water Fountain. I wanted a big one so that I didnt have to constantly refill it. Managed to pick one up on the net for about £35.
What the water fountains also do is keep the water cool, which is nice for the dogs especially in summer. They do not refrigerate the water, I has something to do with the water constantly flowing that keeps it cool.
With the amount of water the above fountain can hold, I only need to fill it up every 2 or 3 days, whereas when I used a bowl, I used to have to fill it up once or twice a day.
