One of my daughters guinea pigs died tonight in her arms. Very sad and at 48 I confess I had a tear in my eyes as she came to terms with her loss.

48 is a good age for a guinea pig.





Know how you feel though; I couldn't sleep after the death of one and got up to give it a midnight burial under a tree.

Sad news but in some way another benefit of children having pets is that it teaches responsibility, care and when the inevitable happens, grief.

We farm highland cattle and Herdwick sheep but it's always the small fluffy things that get their tears flowing. Then mine!!!! I'm getting to bloody soft.
