Ugh hateful little bds, just got out of the shower (in a tiny room) and I hear, bzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzt, first thought, its a moped going down the road, hear it again, chavs, third time, erm what the fk is it, look up, "fkING WASP!".There I am standing there stark bk naked and there is this great big fking wasp looking down at me. How the hell did a wasp get in, we haven't had the windows open all day, little bd has either been here for a while or flew in through a door. Now I've just abandoned the En Suite until that wasp is gone. There are two little creatures I hate/have a fear of; Spiders, and Wasps.

Ok rant over. But what is the purpose of a wasp?

They are shipped in over the summer by pubs and breweries to stop tighwads sitting in a pub beer garden all day nursing a pint of coke.

When it gets to the end of the summer, they are usually retired, or sent back to the factory for refurbishment, which is why you only see a few over winter.

I think my garden shed/workshop must be something to do with this process then, thoughthe breweries have failed to inform me. There's been a wasp nest up in one corner and the floor is covered with literally thousands of the little bds where they have buzzed themselves to death against the windows.

Their main source of food, when they can't get beer and sticky buns, is the sort of grubs and caterpillars that cause a lot of damage to our plants and crops.

The majority of pest insect species, which can cause damage to large amounts of crops, have a wasp species that is either a predator or parasite upon it. In essence, wasps can be used as a form of bio-control. Wasps are also eaten by birds and much like bees, can help pollinate flowers.

I still smack 'em with a rolled up newspaper though! smile

I seen one of the poor little blighters lying upside down on an office desk,
decided the best thing to do is throw it out of window
just as was about to pick it up it lunged for my throat
i then remembered i had to be somewhere else sharpish like.
