I know that there's been a thread for this recently, but I'm buggered if I or the "search" (!) function can find it.

What do you leave your dogs when you go out?

I've only got three ideas, on rotation! Frozen yoghurt with tuna, frozen yoghurt with marmite, frozen yoghurt with carrot (one dog's not a fan of this one), inside a bone.

Sense a theme?

I'm just looking for other ideas - wouldn't want the spoilt pooches to get bored of their treats now....

G'wan... share your ideas with me?!

We fill a kong with lots of his fave things (chicken, carrots, dog treats, cheese, cheese spread, peanut butter, kibble) and leave him with it. if you freeze it will last 3 times longer smile

Stag Antlers - Our pup loves them, it's not just the chewing though, she loves the bone marrow inside them too. Plus it makes no mess.

Ah yes! Stag antlers! That was mentioned in the other thread, and I'd completely forgotten about it!

I get them from our local pet place - but I'm pretty certain they are somewhere on t'interweb. Think they are called stag bars.

I'm coming to the conclusion that our dogs are fussy bds...

...they'll turn their nose up at dry dog food...

...and one turns his nose up at carrots...

...hence the asking for ideas! Keep 'em coming, folks! thumbup

Honestly ,no advice - my 10 year old mutt( aka highly pedigreed Cairn ) loves to come out in car ,and if left for an hour or two in back of car is perfectly happy . Just needs a treat and "stay ,guard £ to keep him happy . Other times ,at up to a couple of hours ,we give him a chew stick and a cudle and he gets in bed/on my chair /setee and seems happy . When we get home ,he's in my chair looking for us .But then we give him a fuss and a decent treat . And all is forgiven . He'd like to be with us all the time ,but he's not a town dog - loves country trips and in town goes daft -towns are not his scene, he's an open country dog .

hide some smelly treats around the room/ house when you leave and tell the dog to find them (may require some scent training first). As well as keeping them amused it knackers them out as it is very hard mental activity.

See, I quite like this idea...

...but one of ours is a scavenger anyway, and I'm a bit loathe to encourage the sniffing around to find things to eat trait...

...that, and the fact that both of them are a bit st at it! wink

If you practice with them a bit you could get them to just sniff for a specific treat like drug dogs. My dog loves it she will go sniffing round the house tail wagging away.

My Border Collie is on strict rest at the moment so we bought him a Kong Wobbler which is excellent. It takes him a fair while to get all the treats out too.

A lot of the time we take Toby with us - from what I can see he prefers to sit in car whilst we shop as opposed to sitting in house .But then we only go into town for a short time and return often . Bonus is that he is an active deterrent to any possible theft attempt - they might want ot break in - but are they willing to have him have part of their arm etc, as a trophy . He's small enough to be a problem ,but big enough to be very damaging and effective. And his breed are well known for their loyalty .
