Dog Trackers??
Discussion
On reading a post from someone who's dog run off, they mentioned they used a GPS tracker on it's collar.
One of my two is prone to chasing rabbits/wildlife and I worry she may disappear, or worse be stolen.
Does anyone have any recommendations on trackers or things like that?
I know nothing about them so I am guessing you use a 'Smartphone' to trace the tracking device?
Thanks in advance

Tried a few of these.
The telemetry stuff that the falconry lot use is good, but not made for the rigours that it must stand on a collar compared to a birds feathers. I gave up with those a couple of years ago.
The GPS stuff is getting better but again it's the envoirenment. I have lost 2 of these in the last 12 months due to the casing not being up to it.
In the next couple of weeks 'Pawtrax' will have a new one on the market that looks good.
Hope that is some help.

We have these on the cats. So far so good. Its retrieved a couple of lost collars from neighbours gardens which we wouldn't have found otherwise.Haven't had to use it in anger yet but I'd be reasonably confident on finding them. Avoid any "dangly" sort of silicone cover and go for the inline ones for collars.

Basically an avalanche transponder, but uses a different frequenzy to avoid conflict.
457 kHz is a dog/sled rescue frequenzy used for avalanche dogs

This and this with some of these.
Without meaning to sound rude, if the dog is running away, then it is not under control. Far better to address the underlying problem than simply rely on tech.
You did sound kind of rude but I can see where you are coming from, did not go into the whole story but basically Ava is a rescue and had a terrible past, she does not run away as such, we live in the middle of nowhere and when the missus is at the horses the dogs are allowed to wander (in a safe enviroment) with the other horsey girls dogs, now and again they chase a rabbit, follow a scent like dogs do, they never go far and always come back when called/whistled but I am worried that one day they may not so thought a Tracker would be peace of mind.Without meaning to sound rude, if the dog is running away, then it is not under control. Thanks to everyone for the links etc,

Sorry - I apologise. Obviously a big difference to the scenario you describe than to dogs just running off after rabbits etc. when taken for a walk! I must admit that I thought you were describing a Fenton situation! Thanks to everyone for the links etc,
