All they do is break your heart. Cats been missing for 3 days now. Love him to bits.

Reasure me he'll come back cause frankly, I miss him. This isn't like him at all, he's only just over a year old, and only usually goes out for a couple of hours. then sleeps the rest of the day!

Just want him to scratch at the door frown

Our cat wouldn't come in the other night. First time in the new house he's not come back when called. He was there the next morning - I guess cats just get busy with things sometimes.

Neighbour's cat over the road went missing for 3 or 4 days but turned up eventually. Cats aren't really that tame: they do what they like, but they do usually turn up again.

Hope yours reappears soon. smile

A good friends cat went missing a few months ago, which was very out of character. He was not chipped and had no tag on the collar. After a month or so of searching, putting up posters etc, my friend had to face the high likelihood that he'd never be seen again and she'd never know what happened to him.

However, she received a call from a member of the public a few weeks later who believed she had found her cat. My friend identified him as her cat and took him home. He was fit and well and nobody seemed to have any idea where he'd been for the best part of 2 months.

Don't give up hope just yet.

Another experience that occurs to me:

About 6 months ago I took our cat to the vet for the annual MoT. The receptionist noticed our address and described a cat which had been brought in from a neighbouring street to ours to one of their other branches as a possible stray by a well-meaning passer by.

I recognised the description as a cat that actually lived there which I often passed on my walk to work, and popped round to let the owner know where their cat had disappeared to. They were rather relieved!

This.

A few posters around asking everyone to do so will help.

Also do something radical: when the cat returns of its own accord, as in the vast majority of cases, go round and collect up your posters, please.

My old cat disapeared for 3 days once. We called around all the local vets, put posters up, asked neighbours etc. We were pretty much convinced she had been hit by a car.

Third evening, about 2am we are sat up late watching a film with some friends over. Cat walks in through the cat flap, sits down on the rug like nothings happened! No idea where she went or what she was doing.

Several of my cats have all gone walkies for significant amounts of time.

Most of them came back.

It'll be back when it gets hungry.

It is one of my worst fears, just after he turned one, my younger one disappeared i was terrified something had happened to him, it was also the first time that the weather wasn't freezing that year. When it gets cold mine came back and i am sure he will wander in and not realise why you are so attentive in the next couple of days.

They all like to do it at least once, little gits.

OP i'm sure he'll be fine.

Jake, our stray we homed went through a phase of refusing to come in at night when we went to bed but would always make his way in during the night through a window. One night he didnt come back so we started to worry. Next day still nothing so I made up some laminated posters and flyers to put through peoples doors and started to work my way along the road. I got about half-a-dozen houses up the road where I got my first answer, they recognised Jake and said he'd been about but they'd shoo'd him out of their garage. They were very good and decided to check again. We opened up the garage and I called him, nothing. I called him a few more times until I heard a cry and I found him hidden behind a pile of crap. I dragged him out and he clung to me, so I took him home and fed & watered him.

Don't give up hope but make sure you do everything you can to find him, don't make yourself feel guilty down the line that you didn't try hard enough. Best of luck.

He'll probably just wander back in unaware of the fuss he's caused!

Cats seem to be more independent that we would wish them to be. We had a very big black male who frankly just chose that they got more food and attention from a retired lady 100m away. smile We were worrried about the cat going awol so we put a message with phone number in a capsule on his coller and got a call next day.

Ours just came out of her litter box with a turd firmly affixed to her bum hair. She then preceeded to wipe herself on the floor, rug, sofa, armchair and coffee table in an effort to remove it.

OP - he'll turn up when hungry. Worry not smile

Hope he turns up soon.

I hate to let mine out now, and only do so when I am home at weekends when the local roads are a bit quieter.

We've made posters that will be put up tonight, also flyers to put through letterboxes.

Not having them around makes you realize just how much you get attached to them.

I havnt given up hope yet!

Cutting the Arse hair of our Ragdoll is definately not one of the upsides of pet ownership, God knows what is going through her mind when we do it smile

As already mentioned, he could be in a shed or garage.
Also, could've got inquisitive and gone in to another house via it's catflap
Occupiers could be away and he's shut in.
Don't lose heart just yet.
