Lab owners will know what I'm talking about and for those of you that's never seen it, they stand still, tail going daft and drop the lower lip. Anyone know why they do it ?
In any other breed it would be seen a threat.

I've seen it many times over the years in several breeds but mainly labs, lab crosses and jack russells. They don't drop their lower lips though but slightly lift their upper ones whilst furiously wagging their tails smile

One my aunts golden retrievers does this 'smiling' she lifts her top lip up but it keeps making her sneeze. Its hilarious watching her go into a sneezing fit when we come through the door and she is so pleased to see us.

Any time I see it, I just know the Lab is going to go mental when I pat it . As I said, anyone not knowing the signs could see this as aggression. It's not, but why do they do it .

Our Springer does exactly that - raises top lip, shows bottom teeth - very funny. Will try to get a photo as it's pretty much a given when the treats come out.

Wonder if the Labradoodle pup will follow suit when older!

Oh gawd, do I appreciate that image, only insert a black bd !

I lost my chocolate lab last year, and his now 10 month old replacement has reminded me just how much they destroy, before they calm down.

As well as lots of toys, lots of shoes, the wifes glasses, the christmas decorations, the stairs carpet, all the rails that hold the stair banisters up, toilet rolls by the thousand, newspapers ......

And of all the dogs,I thought it was Labs that did it. Never noticed any other breed doing it .

and even funnier that a Guide dog made an already half blind bear even more blind! and looks pleased with himself laugh and yes he did pass as a fully fledged guide dog laugh
