Hi all,

Pet insurance renewal time has come around - I have a 14 month old labradoodle, and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for pet insurance

I know Petplan are good, but its coming in around £20 a month more than the competition. So far, I've a good quote with M&S, but on reading reviews it seems that they are likely to keep bumping up the premiums on a yearly basis.

Any help appreciated!

John Lewis pet insurance (used to be GreenBee) - I moved to this when PetPlan became very expensive - they also seem to offer very good cover. Hope this helps.

+ 1

Check what is covered on cheaper insurance offers very carefully. John Lewis seems a good balance between the premium and what is covered.

Thanks - just did a quote and it's working out quite reasonable.

However, I'm a bit worried about the £7000/£10000 per year costs (which is around the minimum I should be going for I believe. A lot of other insurance companies seem to offer a "life" policy, in case its a serious illness which requires lifelong treatment - where do I stand on this with John Lewis?

JL is per year but it's still a life policy. Petplan ultimate is only £2500 a year extra cover and wanted £49 A MONTH more than JL did for our Rottweiler

As a vet, we would prefer to deal with Petplan usually as they are easier to work with for claims. Just my 2pworth from the other side of the fence.
