Just a quick query to any owners of ex racers. We're looking to insure Jack, and most companies seem to exclude ex racers.

Had a really good quote from More Than, initially asked if he was "currently racing or acting as a guard dog". Answered no, as he isn't.
Then on proceeding to purchase online, reading the t&c's, they excluded any previous racing dogs too.

Any help much appreciated.

I've not been aware of Pet Plan excluding racers. May be worth asking greyhound rescue as well.

Tried pet plan on line, wouldn't quote frown
Will phone them in the morning, also More Than have been suggested by other owners but they exclude 4 legged athletes too on line. Will call them too. Thanks Bex smile

Ours is with Petplan but it was arranged through the Retired Greyhound Trust when we got the dog from them.

Our Meg is insured with M&S. A quick scan of the site doesn't reveal any such exclusion.

It seems an odd exclusion to have. The ex-racers I've had have been fit as fiddles and died of old age. Often crap teeth though. Get brushing with an enzymatic toothpaste.

My old un had a tooth problem at his first health check. Now ,he's not got that problem -and he's daft on Aldi tooth stuff. Comes in a yellow packet .
Worth a look ?

Thanks for all the advice. All sorted through Morethan once I'd spoken to a real person over the phone.
