Made the decision last night to take Mr.Sax our big white cat to the vet for the last time today.

He's had a thyroid problem for years and after an operation last year he hasn't got that much better, but over the last week or so he's just become a bag of bones, has problems walking and just looks like a really old man now.

Still a good innings for such a big cat at 15. He was an incredible mouser who had a great life.

Tears in my eyes at work.

Aaah, sorry to hear that. Sounds like he has had a great innings though.

My boy has feline leukaemia and the thought of him getting really ill is unbearable.

Always sad. Felix went earlier this year after at least 15 years(rescued cat so nobody was sure how old he was), His kidneys had gone sadly.

frown. So sorry for your loss, even though it was the kindest decision it's still the hardest of decisions. Rip Mr Sax. Sounds like you had a good life (and you had a great name)

Really sorry to hear this OP. PTS is both the hardest and kindest thing we can sometimes do for our pets x

Devastating, we have a cat on thyroid medication for the last 3 years, he's an old man at 14 too. Hope your holding up ok.

Cheers people.

My wife managed to get a half day so managed to see him at the end, so a bit of a tearful afternoon.

He was just so ready to go at the end. RIP Saxie.
