Poor Jimmy dog has probably had a T.I.A. (mni stroke)
Discussion
On Tues, Jimmy was at work with me when he had a very weird epsiode reulting in poor colour, rapid heart rate, low body temp and just a bit...odd. He was still not right by the end of the day but much better by Wed. My vet wanted to rule out heart issues so he was scanned and xrayed today. Good news is all looks good so it wasn't a heart hting, bad news is they think he's had a mini TIA (Transient Ischaemic Attack), luckily it has not had a lasting effect, probably because he is very fit and still relatively young. There is no treatment but he can go back to normal exercise
.
But this has really shaken me, I know there is a chance it could happen again and may be worse next time. (MRI has been discussed as a poss next step if it does) He has always been so well apart from when he eats things he shouldn't or physical injuries, that this has been a shock. He looks like a 2yr old, runs and plays like a 2yr old that I can't imagine him ageing...not yet anyway.
He's going to get special food tonight as he is a bit dopey at the mo (he was lightly sedated so we could get a good xray).
I do not cope well when my four legged friends have medical issues so this is going to worry me for a while yet

Aww Becks
The good news is, these are mild and can be coped with, you know the bad news (it means they are getting older)
it is awful when our beloved pets are sick, they can't tell us how they feel so we worry more about them
(ps Bast & Pepi want to know how's Fitz please?)

. He's plodding along. His legs still give him issues and they are slowly worsening - he has just restarted his acupuncture, his drinking continues to worsen but he's good and enjoying life, amazing really as a yr ago I thought I was losing him (even bought a casket!!).Fitz says thank you to Bast and Pepi for asking after him, he wants to know if they sorted their weeing issues out!

Bast is fine, still bringing home rabbits (dead or alive!). Pepi is (nearly) over his marking issue (I hope!) cured by putting food where he was marking in the lounge & another litter tray on top of the covered one that he was standing on to mark the wood!
His very expensive tehrapist has no idea why he is doing it!!!They both send their best wishes to Jimmy

Sorry to hear that Bex.
However, you will know when the time is right, and in the meantime you will take care of him as well as any other person on the planet could.

I'm hoping that time will be several years off yet, he's still so young. He seems to have made a full recovery from this episode, (which is why the vets think it was a very small one). Just go to hope if he is going to have another one it's a long way off yet!

If anyone can treat him well enough to stave it off, you can.I'm hoping that time will be several years off yet, he's still so young.
