I'm sure everyone is as bonkers as me and the OH and just refers to their pet by whatever they feel appropriate at the time. As such my dog has a long list of names it has to put up with...

Normal name : Summer

Pedigree name : Vapresto Esperante

Things she gets called: Puppy, Pup, Poop, Poo Beast, Cheese Beast, Bonkers Dog, Herder, Ball Dog, Sweetie, Buggerlugs, Puddin, Summertime, Bog Dog (for when she is out on a walk and finds the muddiest pond on the planet and comes out looking chocolate dipped not because of anything toilet related), Mad Hound and Bluecross (for when she does things I don't like such as when I am trying to clean and dress a large open wound on my foot and she comes along to investigate and sticks her paw right in it ) that is all I can think of for now.

Cat is named louis, but gets called catface, responds to the latter when he feels like it, occasionally cat, never his name as it never gets used.

Dogs respond to their names, and whatever cursing they've given me cause to use.

Our Black Lab (Tally) has the pedigree name Snowdrop Wagtail. Wagtail I can understand, but who calls a black lab Snowdrop?!?!

A couple of dogs on our shoot are from the "No" family - I often hear them being called by their full names "SAMMY NO!" and "MAX NO!".
