Will this fishtank be ok like this?

hahaha classic reflection fail.
Yes, your tank will be fine.
Please, please, please, if this is your first tank, read up on cycling. DO NOT JUST THROW IN TAP WATER AND THE FISH!! The fish WILL die if you do that. Read this PH thread, I wrote quite extensively about cycling a tank, and there are some great links too.

RE: Stock of fish, for your children a community tank will be best, initially get a "hardy" fish like neon tetra's, they look great and if the ammonia in your tank becomes a little too high they will survive it.
If you have any questions feel free to PM me, or ask on this thread (infact that maybe easier as I check PH more then my emails!)
hope this helps

It's a 65L tank, it's going to be a planted aquarium, with a few different tetras and maybe a fighter, I also have a community tank.
This is my first attempt at a planted tank.
It's now full of water.
Do you know I had a planted tank and got rid of it because trying to maintain the N.N.A. levels became a hassle and took the enjoyment out of it for me. It did look beautiful though. In the end I spent some money on some great looking plastic/silk type plants (artificial) and the tank looked great! This is my first attempt at a planted tank.

So as the tank establishes itself, it will need to deal with the addition of the plants and the fish, I would advise you got for a hardy fish again after you have cycled your tank (again this is VERY important especially because of the plants), tetras would be fine.
I'm sure you know Siams are very territorial and tetra's, well they do not get on with Siams- they will clash and your Siam will end up having his fins pulled out. Thats not to say it cannot be done though- keep the volume to Tetras LOW (5 max, I would advise), and make sure you have PLENTY of hiding places for the siam otherwise it will be stressed and lose its colour, sunken pirate ships etc... you know, the usual tank decoration.
If you think 6 fish will make your tank look a little bare, you could try adding some African Dwarf Frogs, these grow about an inch in length max and are very cute- great fun for the kids. They are fully aqautic so you dont need to worry about it jumping on the sofa!!
