Which Dog hair friendly vacuum cleaner ?
Discussion
It's time for a new vacuum cleaner as my old panosonic bag cleaner is not up to the job anymore and I wanted to ask who has any decent experiences of makes/models of ones which would be best picking up dog hair from carpets ?
I haven't looked at any in particular yet, but I would probably go and look at the Dyson Animal first (no idea which actual model though- there are loads) any recommendations ?
Cheers,

Cheers,
I've just bought the Dyson Animal D32. There is a newer model D39 as a result we saved over £100 buying the older model through the Dyson website.
So far I've been impressed. We had a 9yr old Miele Which has been a good reliable machine however it was starting to lose power. We have 3 cats a dog and a toddler the new machine is doing a great job and making it much easier on my back.
I've never liked uprights but wanted a bagless machine. This is the perfect combination for me. Plus it looks funky and space age

Supposedly the Miele cat and dog is the shizzle, but I'm very impressed with the Dyson Animal hand-held.
It sits in its charging dock and I just pick it up whenever I see cat hair, crumbs, or cobwebs, rather than drag the full-sized vacuum cleaner out.
I'm amazed at the amount of crud it picks up from curtains, sofas, rugs and car seats which previously looked 'clean'.

We have a dog, and a meile cat and dog vacuum (the most powerful one, there are two) and it's brilliant. I'm not a fan of bagless, would much rather throw a bag away than have to empty dusty trays and filthy filters - but if you can live with that the dyson is a good buy too.
The reason I went for a Miele yrs ago was a)cost b)I didn't like the thought of a bagless machine same reasons as you've mentioned.I changed my mind re: the bags because unless you sign up to a payment scheme with Miele (which tbh did work for us previously, until it expired) the bags can get expensive and actually emptying the Dyson is clean and easy. The filters just wash every now and then in warm soapy water and not replace at cost like the Miele.
I saw quite a few complaints on Which re: the motor blowing on the Miele cat and dog after approx 3yrs and Miele had been rather rubbish at their customer service, so it put me off. I did consider this machine as well until I read those. I'm sure plenty have not experienced this problem with the model though.
What a change to see this regular topic in Pets rather than Homes - obvious slant.
All the regular suspects will be good - what suits you and the way you hoover ? Personally, I like our Dyson, although I was brought up on cylinder machines.
Just to repeat myself on the subject - its airflow that counts - airflow = cleaning power.
Some machines are better - good seals and the like. But to help things - the cleaner needs cleaning - it won't do itself. Filters and the like. That's what kills cleaners - Dysons especially. Easy living for some people taking 'dead' Dysons and cleaning them to get them going again.

Actually it will depend on which model you bought. it's the TT5000 which gets the poorer review, the cheaper one seemed to be better but by then I'd been put off about the poor customer service! Being really homest I think I just really liked the look of the Dyson Animal more aswell!
Mine's the S5 cat and dog premium. Ah well, its working well at the moment
