Hi all!

the old aquarium is looking a bit battered and the inbuilt filter / electrics are on the way out so we might as well replace the whole lot in one go. We have just the two goldfish at present in a 28litre tank, but are planning on getting a larger tank to give them more space (they're now roughly both 10cm long).

Are there any good online sellers that you recommend or a good brand? We've seen a few 60 litre setups for around £120 so is this the going rate nowadays?

Cheers!

For tropical tanks the Rio tanks do the trick as a rule....

I quite like Juwel tanks, but they can be a bit pricey.

EBay/ Freecycle etc.

Don't want to sound miserable, but goldfish need a big tank - 90l or so per fish. Whilst a 60l tank is better than a 28l, it's too small really. Sorry.

There seems to be a few suppliers selling these......

...for £49.99 at the moment. I picked one up last weekend from my local Maidenhead Aquatics store.

As above, gumtree/eBay.
Bought my 2 Rio 180's from gumtree for under £100 each with lots of accessories.
Brand new setups seem really pricey IMO.

Yeah I had one of those from an aquatics store 3 weeks ago along with the stand it came to £100.

It was great right up until I got up on Wednesday morning to find it had pissed 3/4 of the water out all over the living room.

The bottom of the tank had a crack shaped like a parabolic curve running from one corner to the other.

The store tried various excuses to try to blame me, none of which were things I had I done. There were no high spots on the stand, it was on level flooring, wasn't disturbed in any way and I hadn't put anything in apart from fish after carefully adding the gravel three weeks ago.

Their final step was to call the company rep in today. Shortly after I got a call offering me my money back.

I asked if the rep had given a reason why this has happened but wasn't given an answer, just a refund.

My advice would be to have a bucket full of tank water ready and plastic sheeting around the tank just in case...
