So next weekend I am tackling a job that's been scaring me for a while a knocking a hole through my wall to fit a cat flap

We were going to buy a microchip cat flap but I have seen some not great reviews online and they are £99

Are the infra red ones any good? They are half the price and we don't really get cats in our garden and the chances of one of them having the same tag are slim even if they did come in

Anyone have any thoyghts ?

How about a normal catflap? I like Catmate ones.

I would like some method of ensuring only our cats come in though

Most people I know with microchip flaps are very happy with them.

Petporte microchip cat flap. Mine works great, keeps out unwanted locals and can be set to auto lock/unlock at sunrise/sunset thanks to it's light sensor.

Cyberkitties are the way forward!

We have a microchip activated flap, and its been great. Its got several choices of 'settings' so, (for example),you can let your cat come in, then he cannot go back out. Not cheap but we thought it was worth the money.

Its been 100% reliable.
