It was with great sadness that I read of the death of Terry Nutkins.

Animal Magic was, without doubt, my all time favourite television programme as a child. I still enjoyed watching it in my mid to late teens. It's from those times that I have fond memories of Terry Nutkins and his wee sea lion Gemini - happy days.

Cheers,

Eric frown

frown. Very sad. A man whose fingers were fully committed to helping wildlife!

Great man who did great thing for nature and preservation projects, a lot of which he never publicised.

I met him when I was small and said 'My Dad wants to be like you' 'What? Look after wild animals?' Terry replied. 'No' says I, 'He wants to scuttle Michaela Strachen too!' Thankfully, ever the professional, he managed to stiffle the giggles, we had our picture together, then he shook my Dads hand and quietly said to him 'That's going to talk some explaining in the car home!'

Great bloke, learnt some great things over the years as he made it fun and interesting.

RIP Terry, one of the many reasons I got into wildlife and conservation.

Reading his Wiki page he had an amazing back story. Lived with Gavin Maxwell at 15, who became his legal guardian, then mentored by Johnny Morris, who later left him a house.

Always looked like a mad professor on tv but clearly a very knowledgable enthusiast smile
