Why does my cat ..... ?
Discussion
I thought I'd start a thread for cat owners to post the peculiar and perhaps unexplainable things your cat(s) do or weird behaviour shown.
One of mine will always stand on back legs and head butt my leg whilst I prepare their food.
Then they will follow me across the kitchen and get themselves into the same position to eat - Isy on left and Ryu on the right.
Isy will always meow for at least 1 minute around the house before going to the toilet in a tray.
Isy still scratches around her bowl after eating. She normally doesn't eat all her food in one go.
Almost without fail at least one if not both cats will come and walk around you and sit down when you sit down to go to the toilet
What strange things do your cats do?

One of mine sits next to the subwoofer when I'm watching a film, and then when the noise/vibrations from it hit a certain tone or volume he'll go into utter spack mode and go flying upstairs. 10 mins later he'll come back down and do it again, repeat ad infinitum.
The other one sits on the top of the bathroom door with her tongue half hanging out. I have no idea why, but she's certainly a bit special.

Our little black and white tuxedo after her loo visit out to the garden will hurl herself through the cat flap and dash around to find us. She will then have a mad few minutes chasing things and miaowing and chirruping to us. She will then go have a clean and a sleep.
I am getting a bit worried about her doing this as she is getting a bit old (21) but I don't think I can stop her!

I have 2 tortoiseshells, sisters from the same litter. Just over 3 years old.
One will meow to let me know she's in the house. Then carry on meowing. And meowing. And meowing. Until I sit down, then she'll jump on the sofa and curl up beside me. Doesn't like me being up and around the house at all. If I'm in the garden, or under the car, that's fine. Must Sit Down In The House though.
The long haired one insists on rolling in patches of twigs and leaves, then gets all hissy when I try to clip the clumps out. Loves being brushed, but very rarely manage to do it without encountering a clump.
They both refuse to stand up for themselves - to be fair they're not big cats, nearer the 3.5kg than 4.5kg end of the spectrum - but the locking mechanism on the cat flap gave up a while back and I get regular uninvited guests. Both my cats will hiss at other cats in the house, but at the first sign of confrontation they'll scarper!
Of course, an unwanted side effect of that is that the other cats have started marking around my house which is getting to be a daily job to clean up

I never shut the toilet door completely either - and almost like clockwork, as soon as I sit down, in comes the cat.
The drill is then - a bit of love, some purring and stuff - then she climbs into the trousers round my ankles, and proceeds to attempt to exit the trousers through a leg - with no success

Once that's done, she then jumps up and down into the bath, and goes and sits in front of the tap. I then have to turn the cold tap onto a low setting, and she laps a drink from the stream of water.
When she's done, she has a little shake / shiver to get rid of the drops of water on her face, and then suddenly leaps out of the bath and runs out of the room, like she's suddenly decided that everything in the bathroom is there to kill cats, lol!

I also occasionally get the thing where I go into a room, and as I enter, she shoots out of the room at full speed past my legs. I've read somewhere that when cats do this, it's a 'failed ambush attempt'

Once or twice I have nearly peed on one of my cats as she looks into the bowl The drill is then - a bit of love, some purring and stuff - then she climbs into the trousers round my ankles, and proceeds to attempt to exit the trousers through a leg - with no success

The same one also tries to climb into the toilet behind you as you are sitting down.
Minnie "Nuzzes" me when I'm wearing my black dressing gown. She sits on my lap then pushes her nose into the arm where it bends and expects me to scratch her neck. Won't do it with any other dressing gown and will do it even if my son is wearing it. Not bothered if it's washed or a bit sweaty either.
When (occasionally) allowed to sleep on the foot or our bed, our cat Duke occasionally through the night wanders up to us and headbutts us. Once he's satisfied we're awake he starts purring to let us know he's happy, then wanders back to the bottom of the bed and goes back to sleep. Nice, thanks for that.
Also, he thinks he's part dog; we can kick a small rubber ball up the garden and he'll chase it and bring it back. I'm sure cats aren't supposed to play fetch.

our two...
Chloe loves rubbing herself on my missus's shoes when she takes them off, rubs her head in them pushing them all over the floor in the lobby.
Misty scrapes on the door next to her food in the Kitchen, even if the door is open. she also has mad spells where her tail goes completely bushy and her hair on her back stands up in a very nice Mohican.
She loves sitting in the draining board and is obsessed with catching drips from the kitchen tap.

Both my cats seem to be obsessed with following me into the bathroom. If I am sat on the toilet then Ken (3 years old) will insist on sitting on my lap and purring!
One of my old cats Felix was also obsessed with the bathroom, until he followed me in there one night when I had just got home in a drunken state and while he was stood next to the toilet watching me wee I managed to wee on him
He tended to steer clear after that!
