One of our dogs has literally started sitting in front of the tele waiting for it to be turned on. Once on, she stands about a foot away and gets very frantic.

It's worrying me as she has started shaking she is so frantic. Tail wagging constantly and occasional crying. If I call her she will come over and sit by me but it takes less than a minute until she sneaks back.

It's got to the point where I don't want to turn the tele on.

Any ideas or advice anyone can offer would be much appreciated!

Who says dogs only see certain shapes and colours? She sees EVERYTHING! She knows when it's a cat, dog, horse, person and even when it's a lawnmower (she backs off!!)

Cheers the replies haha... Not quite provided the advice I was hoping for but maybe she can make me rich via YouTube!!!

Not a terrier, 36kg Rottweiler... I'm scared she's going to go through the tv!!!

Get her back by going and watching her food bowl or ball!

Sorry, yes. My reply wasn't the most helpful, was it?!

ERM. Is it just the movement of the "objects" on the screen that is exciting her? Is it excitement or more fear-based nervousness?

Has she learnt the behaviour from a specific trigger, which has ended up with her wagging and crying at the telly getting her treats/attention/fuss?

If watching tv keeps your dog occupied/awake it saves you having to occupy your dog.
It could be worse ... stripping wall paper ... chewing furniture .... or just wanting to be entertained/have games with for hours on end.
Oh how I wish the first 5 years of my dogs life could have been filled by her just watching tv rather than constant walks followed by constant games

I echo this a million times. Came home today to another chewed tshirt.

Suppose it could be worse - she could be chewing the sofa still!

I knew a King Charles when if there was any animal on the the tv it used to try a get behind the tv to find it .... particularly bad if you were watching the Grand National!

It isn't just movement. I can pause sky+ and she cries. It literally doesn't matter what she has done all day, no matter how tired she is, she still does it.

It hasn't been triggered by rewards or treats or any extra attention, to start with we thought ignoring it would help as we weren't drawing attention to it. Eventually it started to worry me so I would take her out of the room and sit in the dining room with a book.

I will try and get a few videos and start up a YouTube channel.

The other day I was on sky sports, she laid down watching it for ages then a horse race came up, I paused it to see what would happen and a horse had just started going off camera (back end on the left of the screen) and she just walked up to the tele and put her nose against the horses back end wagging her tail! She is mental!

You could always get your dog its own telly and put it in another room.

That is both utterly berserk and completely brilliant at the same time.

Can you teach her to use the remote?? jusk asking....

No arguing with the Rottie if she wants to watch Eastenders whilst you want to watch something good.
