What's this bird thing? lol

A friend of mine who lives right by the sea in a village near Great Yarmouth has often spoke of these "gamey type birds" as she puts it, that often come in her garden, she has just taken a photo of one that is sitting on her window ledge, is it a pheasant or something?

she keeps chickens, and wondered if they attract these birds?

Yup, I have about 10 of them who regularly come to our garden (with two males) - I buy chicken feed and throw it out for them....

Actally, I was being glib. We had a shoot here today (next door) and I'm going to now set up a Partridge sanctuary and turn vegetarian.

Perhaps ask them if they want to make it "sporting" rather than simply murder, you get a crossbow and get to defend the birds?

that'll be the day........when the guys with hand held cannons hunt something that has a chance to fight back, till then they will keep using something with a 3ft blast circle to shoot something barely a foot tall....

well it cant get easier than a pheasant, they are about as airworthy as a chicken and as ive said before, 90% of "shoot" pheasants are hand raised on estates, they almost walk towards humans cos theyve been fed since they hatched by gamekeepers

They really don't. Not at all.

I shoot, wood pigeon and rabbit mainly. I've never seen the appeal of a pheasant shoot.
