labrador + Lhasa Apso

I have just been offered free a pedigree Lhasa Apso male who is 5 yrs old because it is not very good with babies/very young children ( as in the dog does not like to be poked/pulled).I have had my labrador bh for 7yrs and she's great with my 13 yr old twins and other dogs even my parents stzu.
The owner would like it to go to a good home and is not bothered about payment but my only concern would be how the dogs would get on tempremently but i would not like my dog to be jealous.
I was considereing having Chewie (the Lhasa Apso) for a couple of nights to see how they get on.
Am i being selfish to consider this? opinions please.

I was thinking from my dogs point of view as she has had her own space for 7 yrs and all the family attention,i just don't want her to feel left out.

As long as they're introduced to each other properly, and not just bunged together, I don't see that there'll be any issues!

...you might even find that current dog will eventually think that playing with new dog is more fun than hanging out with owner!

Also as long as your dog doesn't get bossed around by the new arrival. I often considered getting another friend for Jimmy (pprob another whippet) bu an older dog not a pup. However Jimmy is so very submissive that I fear even a placid dog would still 'bully' him. If he is in his bed and another dog approaches, he jumps straight out to let them in. It wouldn't take long for another dog to pick up on this and start pushing him about. The only time it worked was a friends lab who was also submissive was just as bad. They'd both back off from each other!!

Thanks for all the input but at the end of the day my Cindy should come 1st as it is her home and personnal space.
