Hi guys.
Haven't ventured in here before but I'm hoping someone maybe able to help.
I have a bearded dragon in a 4ft viv and at one end is a heat lamp and until this morning I had a shelter with heat mat at the other end.
The heat mat decided after two years of use it wanted to catch fire and melt (lucky I was at home and noticed pretty quick).

I have decided that as a safety precaution I'm not putting another one in the viv but need some sort of heat for night time.

I have had a look and there seems to be three option, moonlit blue blob, night lamp red bulb or ceramic heat bulb. What are people's opinions on these and what do you guys use in your vivs.

Thanks
Mark

I've got a friend who has a bearded and I know she researched thoroughly re how to house it. She must be doing something right as it looks fantastic. I 'll try and find out how she heats the vivitonin nd let you know.

Smiler.

Thanks bexVN.
I've looked into it a bit and am looking at going for the blue moonlight bulb. Still not sure if this is the best way though as cant find much info.

My friends reply.

She has a heat lamp, 2 different types of UV, one at each end of tank and also a heat mat which is underneath the tank and this has tiles over the top of that area inside the tank so as she doesn't get burned, its just warm x Have thermoeters each end one cool and one warm x

i dont have any additional heating in with my beardie.....cos in the wild Aus gets fecking cold at night....so i think its reasonable to just have the UV (which as I recently found out you really do need to change every year - the output from my apparently fine 18month bulb was absolute rubbish) and a very strong basking lamp....then it gets cold at night (but only ever as cold as the house which really isnt cold)
