One thing to watch for is liquid carbon doesn't go well with Vallis, it will make them shrivel up.
Also is there any reason you have carbon in the filter? It's not needed unless you're removing medication or tannins (from new bogwood etc) out of the water. If it's been in there more than a week or two it won't be doing anything anyway. I'd junk it and replace the space with more normal biological filter media.

Having recently got rid of a 200 litre tank (struggled to keep it clean & stocked due to less spare time these days) I bought a wee little £50 all-in set up from the local shop. It came with some carbon pellets in the sponge, so I've just kept it going as is. I replace the pellets every month ish.
