As the title says, really. I picked up a dead cat today from the roadside and took it to the local vet to see if it had a chip to identify it. No chip, and the vet didn't have a record of it as missing so it's now going to be cremated and I'm really sad to think of an owner somewhere who doesn't know what happened to their moggy.

I've checked the local lamp-posts for 'missing' posters too. Poor little mite - it had been lying there for a good few days. Someone had placed a rose on him frown Black cat, blue collar, vet referred to it as 'him', next to the A80 just thru Moodiesburn, if there's anyone on here locally.

Definitely a good idea but equally put your details on a tag around their neck too. Nothing like a bit of low tech to help things.
We got one of ours back when a group of 15 year olds called the number on the tag (low tech) with their mobile (high tech) and we had her back and to the vet in the last few hours of saving her.
Looking at some of the missing pet sites there are a huge number with no tag or chip so you wonder how they are going to get them back sadly.
