Just having a conversation in the office, and I happened to mention i'm taking Mrs Chimp to Discovery Cove for her 40th to swim with the dolphins.

This prompted some bizarre rant from a co-worker about how they don't agree with "The humanisation of dolphins" and all that...

Whilst I appreciate people's right to their opinion, he didn't half kill the conversation stone dead and make everyone feel a bit awkward.

Wish i'd thought of a witty retort to wind him up with, but alas, my dolphin-related repertoire is somewhat limited.

Anyone else feel this is blatant cruelty to our flipper friends?

It's certainly not an aspect i've given any time to I must admit.

So long as you are not going to try and dress the Dolphins to cover their modesty I think you can safely ignore your co-worker and write them off as a loon.

Donkey's years ago, I heard that curly haired bloke from Magpie on the radio.

He was ranting about how vicious dolphins were. He really didn't like them one bit.

Mind you, I didn't like him much either.

Jenny Hanley was ok though.

Mick someone.. Robertson? Name dug from depths of memory somewhere??

Susan Stranks cloud9 !

If the dolphins weren't happy about it they could go and swim in a different bit of sea, there's lots of it and very few places that people swim with them so surely they'd just bugger off somewhere quiet!

This is swimming with captive dolphins, yes? We did it in the Dominican Republic - it was included in the ticket price. In retrospect, I don't think we should have gone.

Yes, that's him.

Now, Wikipedia says he worked for two years as a dolphin trainer at the Brighton Dolphinarium so I suppose he should know.

Saying that, he also worked at Debenhams in Staines. I bought the wife an anorak there in about 1989 or 1990.

That must have he stemmed from the time when he worked at the Brighton Dolphinarium I suppose.

I'd like to get the XXL one, get the wife to sit on one end and then jump off the sofa on to the other.

Oh, she'd laugh!

... but what have these to do with dolphins I wonder.

Cheers,
